***COURT ORIENTATION – November 15, 2007***
The DBA-YLD annual COURT ORIENTATION will be held on November 15, 2007 from 8:30am to 4:30pm in the Jury Room on the fourth floor of the Denver City and County Building, 1437 Bannock Street. This unique program is designed especially for newly admitted attorneys and attorneys who are new to the Denver area. Judges, law clerks, and administrators from the Denver courts will be on hand to provide their insights as well as answer all of your questions. Participants will learn valuable information about the Denver courts and receive
7 CLE credits, including 1 ethics credit. Please RSVP by 5:00 p.m., Monday, November 12th by calling the DBA reservations line at 303-860-1115, ext. 727, or e-mail lunches@cobar.org. The cost is $38 for DBA members and $48 for non-DBA members. Please make your check payable to the Denver Bar Association.
***Barristers After Hours in November***
The DBA-YLD invites you to attend BARRISTERS AFTER HOURS on Thursday, November 15, at 5:30pm at the Palomino at 16th and Arapahoe. This monthly event is a great opportunity to meet and socialize with other young attorneys in a casual atmosphere. Free drinks and appetizers will be provided. *** Legal Night ***
Legal Night is a program that provides free legal and referral information to residents in the community regarding issues of immigration, employment, housing, consumer, family law, and various other legal issues. It is held at Mi Casa Resource Center for Women (360 Acoma Street) on the third Tuesday of every month from 5:30 to 8 p.m. and at Centro San Juan Diego (2830 Lawrence Street) on the first Wednesday of every month from 5:30 to 8 p.m. No experience is necessary and dinner is provided. PLEASE NOTE THAT THE LEGAL NIGHT AT CENTRO SAN JUAN DIEGO HAS A STRONG NEED FOR IMMIGATION ATTORNEYS. *** Lawline 9- Volunteers Needed – Put Your Law Degree to Good Use ***
Lawline 9 is an ask-a-lawyer program designed to provide legal information on options based on brief descriptions of legal issues. Attorneys also offer suggestions where the individual caller may go for legal assistance. Caller questions generally touch all areas of law. Many times, if the attorney volunteer cannot answer the question posed, someone else volunteering at the same time can offer a suggestion, or the volunteer can simply suggest that the caller attempt to speak to someone else during an evening Lawline 9, when specific topics are addressed.
We need volunteers for the second Thursday of each month. The program runs from 5:30 - 7:30 a.m.. Please email mseck@cobar.org to volunteer for any of these dates.
YLD Lawline 9 is designed to aid understanding of legal issues, NOT to provide specific legal advice for individual circumstances. Attorney volunteers do not give out personal contact information and are asked not to use their full name. Volunteer attorneys simply offer free legal information to callers.
