The speaker, Dr. Jeff Boone, is an internationally recognized expert on the effects of mental stress on the heart. Through his work with high-intensity groups such as NFL executives, firefighters, military leadership, and oil executives, Dr. Boone has developed protocols to first identify those who are vulnerable during times of increased mental stress, then treat them before any event occurs. Annual Henry Hall Memorial Golf Tournament—Monday, June 2
Save the date for the annual Henry Hall Memorial Golf Tournament on Monday, June 2, at Inverness Golf Club in Englewood. A buffet lunch will begin at 12:30 p.m. with a 1:30 p.m., shotgun to follow. There will be two formats as in years past: the Champions division or best ball, and the Challenge division or scramble. Essential Legal Research Methods & Resources for Colorado Lawyers—Thursday, June 5
Recommended for all newer legal researchers, including summer associates and law clerks, and others who want practical advice on research in a real-world practice setting (and those new to this subject). Legal research in a university setting often involves analyzing a long-standing legal issue with well-established outcomes. Research in practice can be difficult, so can dealing with emerging legal issues with conflicting and ethical issues. Presenters emphasize free online resources and discuss cost-effective strategies for using available licensed research databases within one’s organization. Find out more.

New Clinic on Collecting Child Support
The DBA Access to Justice Committee will be providing a training for the presentors of the newly created “How to Collect Child Support” public clinic. This clinic is a great way to get involved with the Denver community, gather information, and teach basic techniques for collecting support. The Child Support training will be on June 13 from 8:30 a.m. to 10 a.m.at CBA 9th floor offices, 1900 Grant St. One CLE credit has been applied. Contact Meghan Bush at mbush@cobar.org to register.

Federal Practice Update 2014—Friday, June 20
Co-sponsored by the Federal Bar Association and the Litigation Section of the Colorado Bar Association
The 2014 annual Federal Practice program provides updates on changes and emerging issues in federal court. It also gives practice tips in such areas as: eDiscovery, ethics, third-party subpoenas, local rules, and removal. In addition, judges share their thoughts on what works, and what doesn’t work in their courtrooms and for a federal civil court practice. This program will help you to be “smarter” and more effective in evaluating a case, writing a brief, preparing for trial or a hearing, and trying a case in federal court. Register now!

DBA Waterman Fund Seeks Applicants for Administrators—deadline to apply is Friday, June 27
The DBA Waterman Trust Fund is seeking two attorneys to serve as a DBA administrators to assist in managing the fund. The fund was established to assist members of the bar who are “aged, infirmed, or otherwise incapacitated” and financially needy. Click here for more information on the Waterman Fund.
