Call for Nominations for 2014–15 DBA Leadership Positions
The Nominating Committee is seeking nominations for the 2014–15 DBA leadership positions, including President-Elect, First and Second Vice Presidents, three members of Board of Trustees, and 11 members of the CBA Board of Governors. Deadline for nominations is Monday, Feb. 17 at noon. For more information or to submit nominations, contact Dana Collier Smith.
Announcing the 2014 DBA Award Winners
The DBA Awards Committee has chosen winners for the following categories: DBA Award of Merit, DBA Young Lawyer of the Year, DBA Volunteer of the Year, Judicial Excellence, Education in the Legal System and Outstanding Programs or Projects. Involvement with the DBA, community contributions outside the bar associations, career history, and accomplishments were all considered in the selection process. The winners listed below are outstanding individuals whom we would like to recognize publicly for their commitment to the legal field and our community. Thank you for inspiring us all!

Volunteer for Collections and Small Claims Clinics: Trainings on Friday, Feb. 21 and Friday, Feb. 28
The DBA Access to Justice Committee will be holding two trainings for the Collections and Small Claims clinics. These clinics provide knowledge on the basics of the collection and small claims processes and are a great way to become involved with the Denver community. Collections Clinic training will be on Friday, Feb. 21 from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. at CBA-CLE 3rd floor offices, 1900 Grant St. The Small Claims Clinic training will be on Friday, Feb. 28, from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m., at the DBA, 1900 Grant St., 9th floor. Collecting Judgments: Strategies for Success—Friday, March 7

In addition, a primer on the Fair Debt Collections Practices Act and the perspectives of both a County Court and District Court Judge is provided. Bankruptcy for Non-Bankruptcy Practitioners: Creditor and Debtor Counsel Perspectives—Thursday, March 13
This program is designed for: in-house counsel who deal with bankruptcy issues, non-bankruptcy practitioners protecting client’s interests, and those attorneys looking to expand their practice into the bankruptcy arena. The program will uncover the nuances of bankruptcy statutes and rules and help you avoid mistakes and potential pitfalls. Taught by experienced debtor and creditor counsel, it gives straightforward guidance on several key issues, including the differences between filing under Chapter 7, 13, and 11. Find out more.

Movie Night CLE: “Intolerable Cruelty”—Thursday, Feb. 13
Everyone is invited to join the DBA YLD for a CLE related to the movie, “Intolerable Cruelty” starting at 5:30 p.m. with wine, beer, pizza and networking.
