2013 DBA Award Winners Announced
The DBA Awards Committee is pleased to announce the winners of its annual awards: Charley Garcia will receive the Award of Merit; Karen Spaulding will receive the Volunteer of the Year Award; Justice Alex Martinez will receive the Judicial Excellence Award; and Jaclyn Casey will receive the Young Lawyer of the Year Award. Bench and Bar: Meet Domestic Jurists of the Denver District Court—Wednesday, March 20
Meet with the domestic judicial officers on the Denver District Court, including Hon. Shelley I. Gilman, Hon. William W. Hood III, Magistrate Karen Hubler, Hon. Anne M. Mansfield, and Hon. Elizabeth A. Starrs. Judges will discuss courtroom procedures, address some of the latest topics in domestic law, and answer questions. The program will run from noon to 1:30 p.m. in the Jury Assembly room on the fourth floor of the City and County Building. Two CLE credits are requested. DBA Community Action Network’s Social Hour—Tuesday, March 19
Join the Community Action Network Committee for a social hour to learn how we reach beyond the legal community to the greater Denver community and provide valuable assistance to those in need. CAN sponsors several yearly drives befitting various non-profit organizations that address hunger relief, children’s dental needs, preschool education, and school-year preparedness for homeless children. Call for Entries: 2013 Denver Lawyers Arts & Literature Contest
Are you an attorney with an artistic inclination or a way with words? The submission period is open to enter your creative works in the 2013 Denver Lawyers Arts & Literature Contest, sponsored by The Docket. Contest submission categories include: Writing—Fiction, Nonfiction, Poetry, and Humor; and Visual Arts—Painting (watercolors and oil/acrylic/mixed media), Drawing, Sculpture, and Photography. In all categories, the subject matter is open to the artists’ choice—no legal subject matter is required.

First Annual Student Veteran Scholarship Fundraiser—Wednesday, March 13
The Student Veterans of America, University of Denver Sturm College of Law Chapter is pleased to announce the first annual student veteran scholarship fundraiser to be held in the Ricketson Law Building Forum on March 13 at 6 p.m. Scholarship funds are a vital part of our veterans’ ability to attend law school. All funds raised will only be used to provide scholarships to veterans of the armed forces attending the Sturm College of Law.
