Colorado Secretary of State's Office will be Closed on Dec. 31
The Secretary of State's physical office will be closed on Dec. 31 for the federal and state holiday and will reopen at 8:00 a.m. on Jan. 3. Online filing will be available while the physical office is closed; however, online filing will not be available from 11:30 p.m. on Dec. 31 to noon on Jan. 1. If a paper-filed document must be effective on Dec. 31, Jan. 1, or Jan. 2, the document should be submitted prior to Dec. 31 and include a delayed effective date. This would include, for example, a document that currently is not available to be filed electronically, such as a statement of merger. A periodic report, trade name renewal, or other document that is due by Dec. 31, must be filed by 11:30 p.m. on Dec. 31. Although the month ends on a day that the Secretary of State's office is closed, filing deadlines will not be extended.

You also will hear engaging updates on the most significant legal developments. Your choice of a morning program (three ethics credits), afternoon program (three ethics credits), or both programs for a total of six ethics credits. Click here for more information.

Coffee Talk: How Does Administrative Law Impact Your Clients, From a Litigator's Perspective, Dec. 22
Steve Kabler and Vicki Lovato will discuss the fundamentals of administrative law that all litigators should know. They will address how your clients may be impacted by administrative law, procedures you might be unfamiliar with, and how to minimize this impact. The discussion will involve issues related to reporting requirements for licensed professionals, the impact of settlements and criminal convictions on licensees, and the nuts and bolts of handling an administrative proceeding. Kabler is special counsel in Jones & Keller’s litigation group, where his practice emphasizes representation of licensed professionals in disciplinary and licensing proceedings. Lovato is a litigator at Silver & DeBoskey, representing licensees in administrative matters, primarily the health-care field. One CLE credit has been requested. Cost is $5 for members. This program will be held at the DBA Offices, 1900 Grant St., Suite 900, starting at 8 a.m. RSVP by e-mailing lunches@cobar.org or call 303-860-1115, ext. 727.
