***Support MVL on “Colorado Gives” Day, Dec. 8
Metro Volunteer Lawyers is participating in “Colorado Gives” Day, a special day when the community will come together to support local charities. Presented by Community First Foundation and FirstBank, Colorado Gives Day asks donors to give to their favorite charities online through, with the goal of raising $1 million in one day. MVL’s profile on the site should be live no later than Dec. 1. On Dec. 8 you can donate online from anywhere, any time during the 24-hour period that day; 100 percent of your donation will go to MVL. Help support MVL and its mission to provide free and low-cost legal services to people in need.

***CLE Program: Ethics for the Criminal Lawyer 2010, Dec. 1—Morning Program
You are invited to join Abe Hutt, John Gleason, and Darren Cantor for a morning of ethics for the criminal lawyer during which prosecution and defense colleagues will learn how to recognize and handle the ethical issues that can arise in a criminal law practice.  Topics will include: Fees, Fee Agreements, Trust Account and Other Practice Management Areas; Confidentiality and Candor to the Tribunal; and The 10 Most Common Ways Criminal Lawyers Get into Ethical Trouble. ***Denver Regional High School Mock Trial Tournament Volunteer Sign Up

***Bench and Bar CLE Luncheon Series—Reel Ethics: Hollywood Looks at Lawyer Behavior, Dec. 15
Using short excerpts from a wide-ranging selection of movies and television programs, Denver District Court Judge Robert L. McGahey, Jr. and NITA’s Director of Specialty Programs, Mark S. Caldwell, compare fictional lawyer behavior to the Model Rules of Professional Responsibility. The result is a lively discussion of ethical and professional behavior. Join us for a view of how Hollywood treats lawyer ethics. Two ethics CLE credits have been applied for. The December program is free for members, $25 for non members, and will take place from noon to 1:40 p.m. in the Law Library at the City & County Building. Lunch may be purchased in advance for $15 (please indicate that you would like a lunch when you register for the program), or bring your own lunch. ***Free Career Assistance and Job Search Support Group, Dec. 14
Attend this brown-bag group session to participate in a safe, confidential forum and share your experiences, network, and gather practical information to enhance your job search or career transition efforts. ***New Book in the CBA Lending Library on Providing Online Legal Services
We just added the new ABA book by Stephanie Kimbro, “Virtual Law Practice: How to Deliver Legal Services Online.” If you have considered an alternative way to practice law and provide more affordable legal services, check this book out (pun intended).
