*** Pro Bono Spotlight
Metro Volunteer Lawyers needs an attorney to help a client who is being sued in Denver County for a credit card debt. The client is a senior and says he didn’t incur the debt and shouldn’t have to pay it. The client has an answer date and was advised to file his own answer. If you are interested in helping this client contact Patricia Trujillo at (303) 866-9307 or

Co-sponsored by the Student Chapter of the Federalist Society at the DU Sturm College of Law, the cost is $15 for DBA members or $25 for nonmembers. *** “Run for the Bar,” and “Can’t Run from the Law” are our teams
What’s more fun than running a 9-mile relay leg of a marathon? Why, sponsoring a runner in the name of the Legal Aid Foundation, of course! Sponsor a runner in the Denver Marathon relay teams. The money raised by the Foundation goes to Colorado Legal Services. Contact D-Brief Editor Christine McManus at (303) 824-5347 or

*** $125,000 Reward
A $125,000 reward has been offered for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or people involved in the death of Chief Deputy District Attorney Sean May. At about 6:20 p.m., Aug. 27, the 37-year-old May was shot and killed outside his home near W. 36th Ave. and Julian St. An unknown suspect in his late teens or early 20s was seen running from the scene after the shooting, wearing a black baseball cap, white t-shirt and knee-length, khaki, cargo pants. Remain anonymous; call 24-hours a day Crime Stoppers (720) 913-7867. Crime Stoppers awards up to $2,000, with the remainder provided by the FBI, ATF, Denver Police Foundation and the Colorado State Patrol Family Foundation.

*** Pro se clinic instructors needed
The DBA Access to Justice/Legal Services Committee seeks volunteer attorneys to teach monthly Pro Se Legal Clinics to the public. Instructors are needed for Divorce, Small Claims and Collections. Materials are available to help get you started. Volunteer attorneys provide information and tips. Instruct the public on basics, such as: gathering information, finding forms, completing forms, how and where to file, defending your position (what to do and what not to do) and court procedures. To volunteer or for more information, contact Carolyn Gravit at or (303) 824-5323.
