*** Pro Bono Spotlight
Metro Volunteer Lawyers currently has more than 30 family law clients who need attorneys. The types of cases vary. For example, one client needs an attorney to assist in securing conservatorship of her elderly mother. Her mother is giving her money away instead of paying her bills and seems unaware of what she is doing with it. Contact Patricia Trujillo at (303) 866-9307 or patt@denbar.org if interested in helping this client or any other.

*** And the Roastee is…
Join us for the annual tradition of “roasting” — and toasting — one of Colorado’s finest. Judge Robert Fullerton will be the man of the evening at the 2008 Seniors Committee Roast dinner at 6 p.m., on Wednesday, Oct. 15, at The Oxford Hotel. Come celebrate Fullerton’s successful career and life. The slate of roasters is to be determined. Cost is $50 per person. RSVP by Wednesday, Oct. 8, to Tara Miller, tmiller@cobar.org or (303) 824-5312.

*** A better use for that suit in the back of the closet
During Law Suit Days, on Thursday and Friday, Oct. 16-17, the DBA Young Lawyers Division will accept donations on the steps of the Denver City and County Building, 1437 Bannock St., from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Donate gently used professional clothing, shoes and accessories to help low-income and unemployed community members dress-to-impress for job interviews. Clothing should be clean and on hangers. For details, contact Marcy McDermott at marcy06@gmail.com.

*** Stapleton Lawyers’ Social Club forming
If you call Stapleton "home," you are invited to the first official meeting of the Stapleton Lawyers' Social Club! Join the group for drinks and appetizers on Thursday, Sept. 18, 5-8 p.m., at Casey's Bistro & Pub, 7301 E. 29th Ave. Come get acquainted with your neighboring counselors, and discuss potential community service and activities. For details, contact Olympia Fay at (303) 866-0425 or olympia.fay@hro.com

*** CLE: Business Law Institute is Sept. 18-20 in Vail
From business entity formation, taxation, and planning issues, to mergers & acquisitions issues, to fundamental skills in drafting LLC operating agreements, there is something for everyone in this year’s program! Click here for details.

*** Secrets of the Great Briefwriters & Advanced Transactional Drafting
Nationally known speaker Ross Guberman will teach attorneys new ways to narrow their focus, craft persuasive facts and fine-tune their structure. During this CBA-CLE program on Friday, Sept. 19, 9 a.m. – 4 p.m., discuss techniques for using a more natural voice to convey complex information. Register online: Secrets of the Great Briefwriters & Advanced Transactional Drafting
