*** Pro Bono Attorney Needed
Metro Volunteer Lawyers needs an attorney to help a client in Jefferson County with a roofing problem. The client had her roof replaced Dec. 22, 2006. In July 2007, she noticed it was leaking and causing cracks in the ceiling. She received a letter from the permit coordinator with the City of Arvada on Nov. 14, 2007 that there were some installation problems and that he was meeting with the contractor to resolve the problems. The problem hasn't been resolved. If you are interested in helping this client, contact Patricia Trujillo at (303) 866-9307 or patt@denbar.org.

*** Celebrating Colorado Gov. Carr
A new book has been published about Colorado Governor and lawyer Ralph Carr, who bravely condemned the internment of Japanese-American citizens during WWII. Author Adam Schrager is a political reporter at Channel 9. A reception for the legal community will be Tuesday, Feb. 19, 5:30–7 p.m., at Davis, Graham & Stubbs, 1550 17th St., fifth floor, Grand Conference Room. The event is sponsored by the CBA and the Asian Pacific American Bar Association. Refreshments will be served. Schrager will have a reading/signing at the LoDo Tattered Cover, 16th and Wynkoop, after the reception, at 7:30 p.m. Reservations are necessary for the party and space is limited. RSVP to (303) 860-1115, ext. 727, or lunches@cobar.org.

*** Senior Spring Banquet at a New Location!
The 2008 Senior Spring Banquet will be Thursday, May 8, 6 p.m., at The Oxford Hotel. Tickets are $50 per person and each honoree will have dinner on us! This event is open to all members and guests. We will be honoring all attorneys who were licensed in 1958 and who also have been loyal members of the Bar Association for the most recent 10 years. The following attorneys will be honored: David Butler, Charles W. Ennis, Don D. Etter, Michael D. Groshek, Daniel S. Hoffman, William P. Johnson, George E. Lohr, Ronald S. Loser, Joseph W. Morrisey Jr., Donald J. O’Connor, Harry M. Sterling, and Earl S. Wylder. If you have inadvertently been left off this list or would like to RSVP to the event, contact Tara Miller at (303) 824-5312 or tmiller@cobar.org.

*** 2008 Annual Spring Workers’ Compensation Update
Get up to date with the latest information to help enhance your workers’ compensation practice. This CBA–CLE program, March 14, 9 a.m.–4:20 p.m., highlights Colorado’s new and changed workers’ compensation rules, shows you how to draft orders, includes discussions of important ethical issues, and much more. Register online: 2008 Annual Spring Workers’ Compensation Update.

*** A Practical Guide to Medicare Appeals
A Practical Guide to Medicare Appeals will walk practitioners through every step of the very confusing and sometimes self-contradictory rules so that appeals can be decided on their merits rather than being barred for procedural rules violations. Order online here! For information, call (303) 860-0608, toll-free (888) 860-2531, or visit http://www.cobar.org/cle.
