*** Bring a Smile to Foster Children During the Holidays
The DBA Community Action Network will help out the Mile High Chapter of the Association of Legal Administrators with a holiday party for the families of Denver CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) on Saturday, Dec. 16. Every day, abused and neglected children in our community are taken from their homes and placed into temporary foster care. CASA volunteers work to help these children find safe, permanent homes where they can thrive. Help kids have a wonderful afternoon by making a donation or volunteering at the event. Go to www.denbar.org for more info.
***Bankruptcy Ethics 2006
What are the new restrictions? How has BAPCPA changed the practice of bankruptcy and attorneys’ ethical obligations? What can attorneys say or not say? Retainers in bankruptcy — from whom do they come? What if the asset used to pay the retainer was pledged to a secured creditor? If you do not know the answers to these questions, this is a program for you. Register online: Bankruptcy Ethics 2006; Dec. 20, 9 a.m.–12:05 p.m.
*** Seniors Holiday Party
The Seniors Committee invites friends and colleagues to a holiday luncheon full of hot food and holiday cheer. The DBA is going to have a team for the “Run the Register” fundraiser on Feb. 25. Participants trek 47 flights to the top of the Wells Fargo Center building. Proceeds benefit the American Lung Association; details at www.runtheregister.com. Submit a “legal-themed” team name and win a prize! E-mail your suggestions to Mary, email@example.com, by Monday, Dec. 4 at noon. (Our crack panel of judges on staff will make the decision). Once the team name has been chosen and registered, we will direct people to sign up for the team. Good luck!
