*** Energetic Volunteer Needed to Round Up Raffle Prizes
An energetic volunteer is needed to chair the Barristers Ball Raffle Prize Subcommittee for 2008. Prizes in the past have included local or international trips, restaurant packages, sports packages and electronic equipment. The proceeds from the ball go to Metro Volunteer Lawyers. If you are interested in volunteering, or have leads on potential prizes, contact Dana Collier Smith, dcolliersmith@cobar.org or (303) 824-5318.

*** Martini Night with the Colorado Lawyers for the Arts
The DBA Young Lawyers Division and Colorado Lawyers for the Arts are co-sponsoring Martini Night on Aug. 9 at the Crossroads Theater (27th and Welton) from 6 to 9 p.m. CoLA is a non-profit organization that provides pro bono legal services and legal education to Colorado artists and arts organizations. Tickets are $35 for attorneys/professionals and $15 for artists. Martinis and appetizers will be included. For more information or to RSVP, e-mail cola@lawyersforthearts.org or call (303) 722-7994.

*** Justice Hobbs Book-Signing
The Rocky Mountain Land Series presents a book signing with Justice Greg Hobbs, author of The Public's Water Resource, on Friday, Oct. 12, 7:30 p.m. at the Tattered Cover Book Store, 1628 16th St. For more information, call (303) 436-1070, (800) 833-9327, or visit the TC Events Page at www.tatteredcover.com.

*** Unauthorized Practice of Law
Many paralegals fit into three areas of law: traditional, freelance and legal document assistants. Which is most likely to encounter UPL charges? Who is at risk? This program, on Aug. 15, 9 a.m.-noon, will cover the balance between offering the best possible services and staying within the legal boundaries. Register online: Unauthorized Practice of Law.
