*** It’s YOUR Party!
The DBA Annual Party will be Wednesday, June 6, 5:30 p.m., at the Denver Public Library, 10 W. 14th Ave. Enjoy free food and drink, and mingle and network with other members. Honorees are: John Baker, Award of Merit; Hon. Andrew S. Armatas, Judicial Excellence; Hon. Dana Wakefield, Judicial Excellence; Matthew Crouch, Young Lawyer of the Year; and Casie Collignon, Volunteer Lawyer of the Year. Click here to see their photos and read the honoree profiles from The Docket. There is no charge to attend, but RSVPs are requested: lunches@cobar.org or (303) 860-1115.

*** Softball for Lawyers
Summer is just around the corner, marking the return of the most family-friendly softball league west of the Pecos. Games are co-ed, often with preteen and teenage children playing. The league is quite relaxed — there are no umpires, and balls and strikes are not called — as the objective is to enjoy the beautiful Colorado summer. Games start in June; sign up by Friday, May 25. For more information, contact Jack Tanner at (303) 894-4495 or jtanner@fwlaw.com.

*** Juvenile Law: Fundamentals of D&N and Delinquency
Whether you are new to juvenile law, touching on these issues in your current practice area, or want a refresher, this program on May 10, 9 a.m.–4:45 p.m., will get you up-to-speed on important juvenile law basics. The morning will focus on dependency and neglect issues, including: investigation and petition; adjudication; disposition and treatment planning; permanency planning; termination of parental rights; and appeals. The afternoon will start with a look at truancy, and then will focus on delinquency issues, including: offenses, defenses, Social Services involvement, GAL involvement, sentencing options, mandatory sentencing, and youth charged as adult offenders. Register online: Juvenile Law: Fundamentals of D&N and Delinquency

*** DBA Golf Tournament
The Henry Hall Memorial Golf tournament will be Monday, June 11, at the Fossil Trace Golf Course. Registration and lunch are at 11 a.m., and the tournament will begin with a shotgun start at 1:30 p.m. Cost per player is $115, which includes lunch, cart, greens fees and range balls. View full details at www.denbar.org, or click here for a registration form.

*** Entertain Yourself at the People’s Fair
The 2007 CHUN Capital Hill People’s Fair will be June 2–3 at Denver Civic Center Park. Each year, the DBA staffs a booth with attorney and paralegal volunteers to answer questions from the public, and distribute brochures and legal resource information. This is a fun and entertaining event, with a bonus of public service! To volunteer for a two–hour shift, e-mail cgravit@cobar.org.

*** Dialogue with Dershowitz
Don’t miss “A Dialogue with Alan Dershowitz: Power, Liberty and Preemption” on Monday, May 21, 7:30 p.m. at the Paramount Theatre, 1621 Glenarm Pl., in Denver. The event will be moderated by Craig Silverman from the Caplis & Silverman Show. Tickets are on sale through Ticketmaster, (303) 830-8497 or www.ticketmaster.com.
