The committee presents monthly luncheon programs on a broad variety of topics relating to international law and practice. Recent programs have addressed negotiating and documenting international letters of credit, U.S. jurisdiction in war crimes trials, the applicability of treaties to private business transactions, compliance with the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act and intellectual property issues in international settings. The committee also serves as an unofficial link with the ABA International Law Section. Attorneys who currently have international practices or are interested in the area are invited to join the committee and attend the programs to increase their understanding of this field.

Korean and Colorado Lawyers: Building Relationships and Opportunities

Please join the CBA International Law Section (ILS) in welcoming delegates from the International Association of Korean Lawyers for an event designed to promote understanding and foster mutually beneficial relationships between the Colorado and Korean legal communities. The event includes a one-hour CLE panel and happy hour reception. Please feel free to attend either or both.

The panel will focus on two issues that have been identified by the Korean delegates as being particularly important to developing business relationships between the two regions:

1The practice of foreign attorneys in Colorado and in Korea.

Colorado’s foreign attorney regulations will be presented by Todd Wells, co-founder and shareholder at Gleason Wells;

Korea’s foreign attorney regulations will be presented by one of the distinguished delegates from the International Association of Korean Lawyers.

2. The benefits to Korean lawyers and businesses of choosing Denver’s U.S. Patent and Trademark permanent satellite office.

After the panel, please join us for a happy hour reception in the CBA lobby. The reception will feature dim sum appetizers, accompanied by some of Colorado’s finest local micro-brews.
