Kenzo Kawanabe

Davis Graham & Stubbs, LLP partner Kenzo Kawanabe has been honored with the Minoru Yasui Community Service Award presented by the Asian Pacific American Bar Association of Colorado.

Kawanabe is a commercial litigator who represents clients in a variety of matters relating to contract disputes, business torts, products liability, and intellectual property.

The University of Denver’s 2012 Law Stars, honored annually at its alumni dinner in September, have been named. Among the honorees are Bill Keating of Keating Wagner Polidori Free, who will receive the Thompson G. Marsh award; Mike O’Donnell of Wheeler Trigg O’Donnell, who will receive the Outstanding Alumni Awards; Mary Jo Gross of ET Investments, who will receive the Alumni Professionalism Award; and Professor Joyce Sterling, who will receive the Excellence in Teaching award.

The awards will be handed out on Thursday, Sept. 13, at the Wings Over the Rockies Air & Space Museum.

Snell & Wilmer is pleased to announce that Daniel S. Wittenberg, a partner in its Denver office, has been named co-chair of the Government Relations and Public Affairs Committee for the Colorado BioScience Association.

Thomas B. Romer, a shareholder at the law firm of Brownstein Hyatt Farber Schreck, was recently appointed to the Colorado Procurement Technical Assistance Center Board of Directors by Gov. John Hickenlooper and the Governor’s Office of Economic Development and International Trade. As a board member, Romer will guide the organization’s overall strategy, as well as develop fundraising tactics.

John F. Young, a member of Markus Williams Young & Zimmermann LLC, has been named 2012 President of the American Board of Certification of Bankruptcy and Creditors’ Rights Attorneys.

Otis, Coan & Peters, LLC, congratulates associate attorney Jenna Seigel for her appointment to the Board of Directors for the Rocky Mountain Innosphere.

Seigel’s law practice focuses on business transactions, real estate transactions, and banking, lending, and creditors’ rights as related to real estate and commercial loan transactions.

Meshach Rhoades

Rebecca Dow, a partner with Holland & Hart, was recently appointed to the Executive Committee of the Colorado Association of Home Builders. She also will continue to serve on the Board of Directors, as well as the Government Affairs Committee.

Meshach Rhoades, of counsel in the Denver office of Kutak Rock, LLP, has been appointed by Gov. John Hickenlooper to the Community Corrections Advisory Council. In addition, she has joined the Board of Directors for the Colorado Coalition for the Homeless.

Jeffrey Cohen has joined Ballard Spahr’s Denver office as a partner.

Cohen focuses his practice on commercial and financial disputes.
