The award, established in 1947 and given yearly, recognizes achievement in public health, honoring the outstanding leadership of Dr. Florence Sabin in the promotion of better public health in Colorado. David J. Menzies, a well-known Denver criminal defense attorney and longtime Denver resident, died on Aug. 21. He was 70. Menzies was born and educated in Kansas, but started his legal career with the Colorado Bureau of Investigation and would later serve as a prosecutor for the Arapahoe County District Attorney’s Office.
