Henry Hall Golf Tournament raises $4,000+ for MVL

Approximately 80 lawyers and judges showed their support for Metro Volunteer Lawyers at the Henry Hall Memorial Golf Tournament on Monday, June 7. More than $4,000 was raised through the silent auction and the selling of mulligans. The following took home the trophy in their respective divisions:

New Member Mixer Offers Great Networking


Young and new lawyers stormed the DBA offices for the New Member Mixer, a networking event where they mingled with seasoned attorneys, on Thursday, June 10. DBA Annual Awards Party Honors Outstanding Attorneys and Judge

Hundreds of attorneys, judges and guests filled a Curtis Hotel ballroom on Tuesday, June 8 to celebrate the achievements of this year’s DBA award winners: Mark Fogg, Award of Merit; Jason Crow, Volunteer of the Year; Kara Veitch, Young Lawyer of the Year; and Judge Larry Naves, Judicial Excellence. See the May issue of The Docket to read morea bout their amazing accomplishments. Congratulations to all! In addition, John Baker passed his presidency gavel to new DBA President Stacy Carpenter. In return, she presented him with the DBA staff-made scrapbook that outlines his year as president.

Record turnout at reception honoring 50-year members

DBA members who were admitted to the bar in 1960, 50 years ago, were honored at the 2010 Senior Spring Banquet on Wednesday, June 9, at the University Club. This year’s honorees were: Lawrence A. Atler; Gerald L. Bader, Jr.; Richard H. Bate; Charles F. Brega; John E. Clough; Robert H. Durham, Jr.; Sheldon E. Friedman; William G. Kemp; William O. Lamm; Edward T. Lyons, Jr.; R. Lee Payne, Jr.; and John D. Phillips, Jr. DBA Past President Mary Jo Gross and Immediate Past President John Baker emceed by reading short bios on the extrodinary achievements of the 50-year honorees.


Each honoree received an engraved medal to mark their accomplishments over the past 50 years. Congratulations!
