Baker Hostetler congratulates Ray Sutton, Jr., managing partner, on being inducted into the Denver Urban Debate League’s Hall of Fame, in recognition of the firm’s groundbreaking support of the league and its diverse students, including coaching, judging, sponsorships and pro bono legal services.

Kenzo Kawanabe, a partner at Davis Graham & Stubbs, became chair of The Denver Foundation’s Board of Trustees.



Debra Hindin-King

The National Federation of Paralegal Associations appointed Holland & Hart’s Debra Hindin-King as the chairwoman of the strategic planning committee.

Frederic H. Marienthal, a senior public finance partner at Kutak Rock, was appointed by Gov. Bill Ritter, Jr. to the Colorado Municipal Bond Supervision Advisory Board.

The partners of Faegre & Benson elected partner Leslie A. Fields to the firm’s management committee.

Todd P. Blakely, shareholder with Sheridan Ross, was elected president of the Board of Directors for The Legal Center for Persons with Disabilities and Older People.

Fairfield and Woods announces that the Denver Inner City Parish elected Frank Debick to its board of directors.

Carla Scarpone, a family law attorney with The Harris Law Firm, was elected chair of the Denver Health Volunteer Association Board. The firm also announces that Beth Wilkins, a certified paralegal with The Harris Law Firm, received a monetary award this year from the National Federation of Paralegal Associations for her involvement with Wills on Wheels. 

Howard Pollack

Howard J. Pollack, a shareholder at Brownstein Hyatt Farber Schreck, was named to the Denver Botanic Gardens’ Board of Directors. Also, W.H. Allen Shelden, an associate, was named to the Colorado Youth at Risk Board of Directors.




Paul Rodney

Paul Rodney joins the Denver office of Arnold & Porter as an associate in the general litigation practice group.

Holli L. Hartman, of counsel at Baker & Hostetler, migrated her practice to the firm’s employment group.

John Leonard Watson joins the litigation practice group at Berenbaum Weinshienk, specializing in complex commercial litigation with an emphasis in environmental, energy, natural resources and land development law. 


Jennifer Osgood Laydon

Burns, Figa & Will announces that Jennifer M. Osgood is shareholder of the firm. Osgood will continue to focus on civil, commercial and real estate litigation, and representing individual and corporate clients. Also, Abraham J. Laydon joined the firm as special counsel. Laydon will continue his practice with emphasis in the areas of real estate, commercial litigation, business law and estate planning.

Miletich Pearl announces that Lucas Lorenz and Mary Barham joined the firm as associates. Lorenz and Barhams focus their practices on civil litigation defense, including insurance and employment law.


Ogletree, Deakins, Nash, Smoak & Stewart announces that Stacy D. Mueller joined its office as an associate.

Fairfield and Woods announces that Constance D. Smith, formerly with Rothgerber Johnson & Lyons, joined the corporate department as a director. Her practice includes tax planning for estate disposition, lifetime wealth transfers, business succession and probate administration.

Fontana & Associates announces that James N. Thomaidis joined the firm as an associate. His practice will include family law, estate planning and business law.

Hensley Kim & Holzer announces the addition of Chirag Patel. His practice focuses on the procurement and enforcement of intellectual property rights, with specific focus on patent preparation and prosecution.

Stephanie A. Hunter joined Isaacson Rosenbaum as an associate specializing in corporate and securities.

Brownstein Hyatt Farber Schreck announces that labor and employment attorney Christine A. Samsel joined the firm as a shareholder in its employment group.

Harry M. Sterling announces his retirement from law. He will still be handling some pro bono cases.

White collar and criminal defense firm Ridley, McGreevy & Weisz have changed its firm name to Ridley, McGreevy, Winocur & Weisz. This change reflects the joining of defense attorneys Fredric M. Winocur and Marci A. Gilligan.

Matthew J. Kristofco, formerly a partner at Holley, Albertson & Polk, announces the formation of Kristofco Law Firm, specializing in civil trial practice, commercial litigation, insurance, business law, construction law and personal injury defense.

National law firm Chamberlain Hrdlicka opened an office in Denver with a specific focus on renewable energy and complex corporate tax issues. The Denver firm’s shareholder is Jonathan W. DePriest, who is developing specialty areas related to solar, wind and alternative fuels, as well as corporate issues related to investment management and private-pooled investment vehicles, such as hedge funds.


James Covino passed away April 1. He was licensed as an attorney in Colorado in 1990. He practiced in almost every area of law, with an emphasis on trial practice.
