UPDATE:DPS Guest Teachers

Out of approximately attorneys and judges who signed up, congrats to half who actually went into Denver Public School classrooms last semester to sub. The remaining folks who signed up will be scheduled in the fall semester.

DPS Superintendent Tom Boasberg visited the Bar offices for the kickoff party on April 12, to personally thank DBA’s member volunteers and staff. Exiting DBA President Mark Fogg remarked on his experience, talking about a fourth-grade girl who came in after class and asked him how she could be a lawyer when she grows up.

Incoming DBA President John Baker will continue the program through 2009–2010. Details will continue to be ironed out, to make sure attorneys are prepared for discipline scenarios and actually have time to discuss civic issues, college and career options during their busy day as substitute teachers.

DPS Superintendent Tom Boasberg thanked volunteers and staff at an April 12 reception, for their efforts in making the DPS Guest Teacher program a success.
