DPS & DBA make it even easier to step into the classroom! One call!

Attorneys who sign up for the DPS-DBA Guest Teacher Initiative now only have to pass an updated background check. An optional training session is scheduled Friday, March 27, at the DBA. Stay tuned to the DBA D-Brief on Tuesdays for announcements about a special party for volunteers in April!

To recap, the February Docket announced an exciting new initiative inspired by Sen. Michael Bennet (the former DPS superintendent). DBA leaders are knocking on doors to get 150–200 attorneys volunteering in the classrooms of Denver Public Schools as special Guest Teachers. DPS desperately needs nearly 400 subs per day — we hope to help out. Attorneys can list their available dates ahead of time, as well as preferred grade level or subject area. DPS will process volunteer applications. They’re asking each DBA Guest Teacher to step into the classroom two days per school year. A giant kudos goes to leaders and the 90 volunteer attorneys and four judges who have stepped up already! All it takes is one call to DPS Legal Assistant Tiffany Lambalot at (720) 423-3398.
