The Arthritis Foundation — Rocky Mountain Chapter, announced that Ralph Torres is the recipient of the 2008 Eleanor P. Williams Arthritis Award. The award recognizes a respected Colorado or Wyoming attorney whose career has been distinguished by the highest caliber of legal service for humanitarian contributions to the community.


Last month, a Legal Affairs item said, "Bob Keatinge of Burns, Figa & Will was the recipient of the 2008 Lubaroff Award." Keatinge is actually still with Holland & Hart. This award is presented annually to a lawyer for lifelong service to LLC, partnership and unincorporated entities law. The Docket apologizes for the mistake.


David D. Powell, Jr.
, a Brownstein Hyatt Farber Schreck shareholder, was recently elected as a Fellow of the International Society of Barristers.

On Aug. 15 at the Steamboat CLE Conference, David Robbins (center, below) graciously inducted the following esteemed colleagues, on behalf of the CBA Water Law Section, into the Ancient and Honorable Order of the Water Buffalo: (from left) Hal Simpson, former Colorado State Engineer; Hon. Water Buffalos

The Library and Information Science Program at the University of Denver Morgridge College of Education and its partners, the Westminster Law Library (WLL) and the DU Sturm College of Law, will recruit and educate 10 new law librarians, known as the Law Librarian Fellows (LLF), thanks to a grant of $999,360 from the Federal Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS). The grant was one of 31 awards given to institutions nationwide as part of a $20.3 million initiative of the Laura Bush 21st Century Librarian Program.



The Women’sVision Foundation announced Holland & Hart partner Anne Castle as a recipient of its prestigious "Woman of Vision" award, which is given to one corporate woman who has demonstrated positive, enlightened leadership at her company and actively promoted the advancement of women both within her organization and her community. The firm also is pleased to announce to that attorney Scott Martinez was appointed to the new Colorado Election Reform Commission by Gov. Bill Ritter.


Insurance recovery and bad faith lawyer, Michael Rosenberg, a shareholder in the Denver-based law firm Roberts Levin Rosenberg has been appointed to serve on the Colorado Trial Lawyers Association’s Board of Directors. He also will chair the group’s Bad Faith Committee this year.


Suzanne A. Fasing
was appointed by the Denver City Council to serve on the Denver Head Start Policy Council, which oversees a comprehensive program of Head Start services that delivers high quality early childhood education, nutrition, health and social development services for low income children and families.


Wheeler Trigg Kennedy lawyer and voting rights advocate Paul Hultin has been appointed to the Colorado Election Reform Commission.


Emanuel N. Anton launched Anton Law Group on April 1, which specializes in aviation law, aerospace law and international trade. The firm is pleased to announce that Michael P. Barry and Marta Farrell have joined the firm as Of Counsel. The firm also recently launched its new website:

Anthony Morris has joined Hensley Kim & Holzer as a registered patent attorney practicing in the field of intellectual property law.

Holland & Hart announced that Henri (Hank) S. Vangerhage has joined its business and tax departments. The firm also announced that Michael Henson has joined the firm’s Denver office as a new partner in the patents practice.

Holme Roberts & Owen is pleased to announce that Michael J. Bland has joined the firm’s Denver office as a partner in the Tax Practice Group. The firm also announced that Jody L. Kepler, formerly of Sherman & Howard, has joined the firm as an associate.

Jackson Kelly, which is celebrating 15 years as a successful Denver firm, has added the following attorneys to their roster: Kate Brewer, Meredith Kapushion and Ricki Kelly as associates, and Michael S. Caplan and Kristi Livedalen as counsel.

Patton Boggs recently tapped Robert Bearman to become the new managing partner of its Denver office, citing "his vast experience with the business community as the necessary



ingredient to propel the office forward following its leadership organizing the Democratic National Convention Committee."
