Leadership for Lawyers is April 7, 16, 22, 29 and May 6. This course provides key insights and a practical review of the leadership literature and real world examples of successful leadership in the legal profession. This course is an introduction to the approaches that will help make you a better leader. Every attendee will receive a copy of the book Leadership for Lawyers. Tuition is $159 for new lawyers (in practice two years or less); $189 for DBA members; $209 for non-members. Three general credits.

LLCs: When and How to Use Them is April 17, 9 a.m.– 4:10 p.m. The limited liability company has become a very popular form of business entity for Colorado businesses. During this program the faculty will lead you through the basics of entity choice and the nuts-and-bolts of drafting the key LLC organizational documents. The program concludes with a look at how to use an LLC in three additional contexts: interest as collateral, for professional firms, and in real estate transactions and ventures. Tuition is $199 for legal support staff; $199 for new lawyers (in practice two years or less); $209 for DBA Business Law Section members; $239 for DBA members; $269 for non-members. Six general credits.

Family Law Update—Spring 2008 is April 25, 9 a.m.– 4:30 p.m. Topics to be covered include a refresher on writing solid separation agreements and a look at prenuptial and marital agreements. Experts will walk through APR, CFIs and a variety of financial issues. The panel of judges will cover important topics such as Rule 16.2, evidence, ethics, and the "simplified" process. Tuition is $129 for legal support staff; $129 for new lawyers (in practice two years or less); $209 for DBA Family Law Section members; $239 for DBA members; $279 for non-members. Seven general credits, .5 ethics credit.

DBA Co-Ed, Family-Friendly Softball 

Softball season is just around the corner, which marks the return of the most family-friendly softball league west of the Pecos. Games are co-ed, often with pre-teen and teenage children playing. This year, we are playing at Crestmoor Park, which has foul lines and an infield that can be discerned from the outfield. Children’s Book Drive

In celebration of National Library Week, the U.S. Courts Library for the Tenth Circuit will hold a children’s book drive from April 1-19 to benefit Reach Out and Read Colorado. Please bring new children’s books to the library at 1929 Stout St., Room 430. For every book you bring in, you will have your name entered in a drawing for a $100 certificate to the Tattered Cover.
