DBA–CLE March

Juvenile Law Update: Sex Offender Issues in Delinquency and D&N Cases is March 13, 9 a.m.–5 p.m. This full-day program features a big picture look at important sex offender issues that are relevant to interdisciplinary professional groups. It highlights hypothetical cases, overlapping issues, probation, pre-trial services, plea bargaining, SOMB, inter-family victimization, and much more. Tuition is $99 for government employees; $99 for OCR, ADR, RPC members; $129 for DBA Juvenile Law Section members; $159 for new lawyers (first two years); $159 for DBA legal support staff; $239 for DBA members; $279 for non-members. Eight general credits.

2008 Annual Spring Workers’ Compensation Update is March 14, 9 a.m.–4:20 p.m. This program will provide you with the latest information to enhance your workers’ compensation practice. You also will be updated on Colorado’s new rules and the recent changes that were effective Jan. 1 (Rules 8, 16, 18). Tuition is $179 for Legal Support Staff; $199 for new lawyers (first two years); $209 for Workers’ Compensation Section members; $239 for DBA members; $279 for non-members. Seven general credits, including one ethics.

2008 Spring Criminal Law Update is March 27, 8:30 a.m.–5 p.m. This program delivers updates in the most critical areas so that you can represent your clients to the best of your ability; and this information is presented to you by the top practitioners in the field. Tuition is $199 for new lawyers (first two years); $209 for Criminal Law Section members; $239 for Criminal Defense Bar members; $239 for DBA members; $279 for non-members. Nine general credits, including one ethics.

CBA Paralegal Committee Meeting

The CBA Paralegal Committee meets the first Thursday of the month, 5:30 p.m., at the CBA offices, 1900 Grant St., ninth floor. The next meeting is March 6, and will be a CLE program, "I Never Metadata I Didn’t Like." Conference call participation is available. Cost is $10 for CBA members and $15 for non-members. Bench-Bar Brown-Bag

Permanent Protection Order Training

Save the date: March 7, 8:30 a.m.–4:30 p.m., at Holland & Hart, 555 17th St., in Denver. Learn how to represent victims of domestic violence in Permanent Protection Order proceedings. Lunch included and CLE credits requested. The training is sponsored by the Denver Access to Justice Committee, Colorado Women’s Bar Association, Colorado Legal Services, Project Safeguard, and Holland & Hart. Free File & Serve Training

Training classes for state court e-filing will be April 7. District Court e-filing will be 10–11:30 a.m., and County Court e-filing will be 1–2:30 p.m. Support staff always are welcome! CAN Food Drive

The Community Action Network’s 11th Annual Roll Out the Barrels Food Drive is April 28–May 9 and will benefit the Food Bank of the Rockies. These barrels will be delivered and picked up. Monthly Dinner Meeting

NALS of Colorado … the association for legal professionals, will hold its monthly dinner meeting Tuesday, March 11, 6 p.m., at the Colorado Education Association, 1500 Grant St. Gregg Luther of Interwoven, Inc. will present one hour of continuing legal education for legal support staff professionals entitled "Document/Matters Lifecycle Management."
