Bench-Bar Retreat — Save the Date: Oct. 21, 2006!
Our legal system is under siege more and more. Beyond the rhetoric and anecdotes, what are the real problems? How can we fix them? Why is the system so costly, cumbersome and time-consuming? How can we adjust the system so that it works effectively, efficiently and fairly? How should we create greater accountability on the part of the judiciary to promote these goals?
Join Justice Rebecca Love Kourlis, executive director of the Institute for the Advancement of the American Legal System; Justice Greg Hobbs, Colorado Supreme Court justice and member of the Access to Justice Commission; Terrance Carroll, chairman of the House Judiciary Committee; and Denver County Court Presiding Judge Andrew Armatas to discuss answers to these and other important questions at the DBA’s Annual Bench/Bar Retreat on Oct. 21, 8:30 a.m.–2:30 p.m., at the Inverness Hotel. The topic will be: “What are the real problems, and what are the real solutions? Improving the legal system in a time of cynicism and despair.” Watch The Docket for further details and registration information.
Paralegal Reception a Success
More than 60 people attended the second annual Colorado Paralegal Day Reception at the CBA offices on May 4. Many paralegals and attorneys attended. Current and former DBA Presidents, Chris Little, Mary Jo Gross and Joe Dischinger, and Colorado Attorney General John Suthers were present. Ever-popular door prizes were handed out, including four half-price CBA Associate Membership discounts.
