$900,000+ Collected for Hurricane Victims

Lorri Salyards (above), executive director of Moye White and Regional Officer of the Association of Legal Administrators, arranged for semi trucks to pick up and deliver everything from computers and copy machines to office furniture and phone systems to Louisiana firms affected by Katrina. Veterans Stand Down Helps the Homeless

The Denver Bar Association participated again in the annual Veterans Stand Down, an event that offers many services for homeless veterans, including benefits, medical, grooming, clothing, food, and shelter services. The Denver City & County Court offered “amnesties” on outstanding warrants on minor offenses and DBA attorney members staffed a booth with volunteers to answer the homeless veterans’ legal questions. Thanks to the following volunteers who staffed the Nov. 10 event: Bill Croke, Don Jacobson, Kathleen Schoen, Deb Wagner, Sally Maresh, Chuck Turner, Peggy Hoyt-Hoch, Carmen Reilly, Amy Costello and Bob Spencer.


Board of Governors Meeting

 

On Saturday, Nov. 12, the CBA Board of Governors met at The Broadmoor in Colorado Springs. Featured speakers included Sen. Joe Stengel, top left, Sen. John Evans, top right, and Sen. Dan Grossman, bottom left.
Stacy Carpenter and Mike DiManna received the Sue Birch Legislative Award.


Farewell Arlene!


Arlene Abady, managing editor of The Colorado Lawyer for 24-plus years, retired in November. At her farewell party on Nov. 17, 2005 Chuck Turner and Dick Ott, CBA/DBA member, unveiled a portrait of Abady painted by Ott.
