Seniors Court Tour

President’s Visit to Denver

CBA President Steve Briggs’ visit is Nov. 5, noon–4:30 p.m. at the Embassy Suites Denver, 1881 Curtis St. Luncheon program is noon–1:30 p.m.; one CLE credit; cost is $25 for DBA members, $30 for non-members. DBA–CLE for November

Legal Ethics and Professional Conduct is Nov. 11. Tuition (if you own the book): $129 for DBA members; $159 for non-members. Add $20 if you don’t own the book. Four general CLE credits, including 3.6 ethics. This program features the CBA-CLE publication "Essays on Legal Ethics and Professional Conduct," by Alexander R. Rothrock.

Defending Non-Citizens in Immigration Proceedings is Nov. 17. Tuition is $59 for those taking a pro bono case; $159 for DBA members; $179 for non-members. Six general CLE credits, including 1.5 ethics. This program features a presentation from a representative of the Department of Homeland Security.

Juvenile Law: Criminal & Civil Issues is Nov. 19. Tuition is $129 for Juvenile Law Section members; $169 for DBA members; $209 for non-members. Eight general CLE credits, including one ethics. The program includes topics such as termination of parental rights, the impact of Crawford, appellate practice, evidentiary issues in D&N and delinquency cases, delinquency evidence, ethics, and an optional working lunch with a representative from the OCR.

CJI Award Dinner

The Second Annual Judicial Excellence for Colorado Dinner is Nov. 8 at the Hyatt Regency Denver, 1750 Welton. Art for a Good Cause

The Central Visitation Program has partnered with Abend Art Gallery for an art sale on Nov. 11, 6–8 p.m., 2260 E. Colfax. Featured artists include Jill Soukup, Jim Beckner, and Sandra Pratt. A portion of the proceeds goes to the Central Visitation Program, which provides a safe, supervised, and comfortable setting for court-ordered visits between children and parents of low-income families. Advanced Family Law Seminar

The American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers Advanced Family Law Seminar is Dec. 3, 8 a.m.–5 p.m., at the Doubletree Hotel, 3203 Quebec St. The program will address new property issues, new family structures, legal & fact research on the Web, relocation of children, evidence, depositions, settlement lawyering, post-decree matters, case law and legislative update, and bench-views.
