Coronation of DU’s new Queen
Contractors working on the University of Denver’s new College of Law hoisted the 48-foot-tall, 38,000-pound spire onto the building’s west tower on Monday, Jan. 13, at noon. The new $63.5-million building will feature more than 190,000 square feet of academic and meeting space, including smart classrooms and seminar rooms, a 120-seat moot court/lecture hall, and a state-of-the-art law library. The College of Law’s move from the Park Hill Campus onto the University Park Campus in summer 2003 will be the first time since 1944 that all the academic programs are reunited on one campus.

DBA YLD Gives Awards
Suzanne Bruce, Megan Brynhildsen and Paul Gordon were recipients of the First Annual DBA YLD Tyros Award for outstanding service to the community and the Denver Bar Association Young Lawyers Division. The Awards were presented by DBA YLD past-chair, Dawn McKnight, at the January DBA Board of Trustees Meeting.

The Tyros Award was established in the belief that no person stands alone, and that it takes the work of many people working together to help affect change in our community. This year’s recipients are: Suzanne Bruce, who has been a dedicated volunteer for the Legal Night at the Center at El Centro Bienestar since its inception in 1999; Paul Gordon was the creator of the monthly DBA YLD e-newsletter, and has acted as an editor, typesetter, and writer since its inception in 2001; and Megan Brynhildsen has been a YLD volunteer for many years. She led the Law Explorers program for two years, working each month with high school students interested in a legal career.
