Participate in Constitution Day/Week on Sept. 14, 15 and 16. This year the DBA Democracy Education Committee is partnering with a non-profit called Liberty Day. Liberty Day is providing materials to teachers and volunteers. The materials include pocket constitutions and questions for the volunteer attorneys to use to “test” 5th grade students on their Constitutional knowledge. This day is an American federal holiday that recognizes the ratification of the United States Constitution. It is observed on Sept. 17, the day the U.S. Constitutional Convention signed the document in 1787. All materials/lessons provided. No experience is necessary. We are trying to fill more than 50 classrooms for 2010! To volunteer for about an hour in a 5th grade class e-mail pleintern@cobar.org. |
